There were a number of interesting announcements at CES this year, but my favorite was DISH’s new Hopper and Joey units. Being a long-time subscriber, and more recently an employee of DISH too, I’ve been hoping they’d come out with a whole home DVR system for at least a year. Now it’s finally here, and I have to admit I’m seriously impressed. I expected it to be good, but wow, not only does it have a gigantic hard-drive (250 hours of HD recording), but they’ve also integrated a lot of smaller features, like the remote finder, and the addition of apps like Pandora, that are bound to make life a little easier. Plus I love the idea of PrimeTime Anytime. The DVR automatically recording the major networks every night during primetime and holding all those shows for eight days will resolve almost all, or all, of my scheduling conflicts. This thing is going to be perfect for my household, and I can’t wait to get one.

Hi There Ninjaninja,
I just stumbled across this and, My physics teacher was showing how projections are only made from mirrors that create real images. Flat mirrors only produce virtual images BUT when he aimed a projector (projects out notes on the board) at the flat mirror, the flat mirror projected the image onto the ceiling?? I thought flat mirrors COULDNT project images b/c they only produce virtual images?

Netflix didn’t just stumble over their own feet, the fell down a flight of stairs in the process, I don’t think I have seen a company make that many bad decisions at once since Coke introduced New Coke. I don’t really see why people are making the same comparison between Redbox and Netflix though. Netflix went up $6.00 a month, Redbox .20 a day on a rental. If you keep the rental for 30 days then you would have the increases equal each other out, but you would have just been charged for the DVD by that point. The only problem I have with Redbox is our local one is inside the McDonald’s. They have Big Mac’s in there and I love Big Mac’s, unfortunately my wife doesn’t like me gaining 10 pounds in two months because of it. I started asking friends I work with at DISH what they thought of the Blockbuster Movie Pass. Also put it out to subscribers when I talk to them, all in all I got some pretty favorable responses, so I decided to give it a shot. Starts out great, I am one month in to my 3 month free trial then it will be $10.00 a month, I get DVD by mail an it includes Blu-ray and games at no extra charge, plus we added 20 movie channels to my DISH receiver, and streaming to my computer and television.

This all needs to be taken into consideration. The Star Wars Franchise started back in the 70s when movie tickets were so much cheaper than they are now. While I think the Harry Potter franchise is very impressive, the Star Wars franchise was never intended to be 6 movies let alone 3. It was supposed to be one. Where as the Potter movies were always meant to be told in as many movies as there are now.

I’ve enjoyed Keiron Gillen’s run on Thor immensely.

However it looks as though Fraction’s Thor will be going in a more cosmic direction and I’m looking forward to that. That said “dark, destructive force from another reality” ? – does that sound a bit cheesy?

As an Aussie science fiction writer I’ve been a Marvel Thor fan since the original Journey into Mystery of August 1962.

So why would you only read a reviewer’s comments, when you could read the same document he was looking at?
